One early mission that many witches and wizards encounter is the Gobs of Gobstones side quest, which is given by a young Ravenclaw student named Zenobia Noke. To successfully complete this task, players must scour several vertical locations within the academy to track down six missing magical items that have been hidden far out of reach.
Starting the Gobstone Hunt
To initiate this magical scavenger hunt, you need to locate Zenobia Noke standing near the stairs in the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower. Speaking with her reveals that older students have mischievously hidden her beloved collection in elevated places across the school grounds. Accepting her request will trigger the quest parameters, encouraging players to actively use their Charmed Compass to guide them to the rough search zones.
Equipping your trusty Accio summoning charm is absolutely essential before setting off on this search because every single item resides high above normal reach. Utilizing the compass indicator helps narrow down the specific rooms, ensuring you do not get lost within the sprawling and winding corridors of the academy structure.
Tracking the First Three Hidden Stones
The journey kicks off by heading out into the open air of the Transfiguration Courtyard to find the initial piece of the collection. Scan the high arched stone cloister where multiple owls usually perch, and you will quickly notice the glowing sphere sparkling on the upper ledge. Directing your wand toward it and casting Accio will immediately pull the first target straight into your inventory.
Next, follow the magical trail into the Library Annex area to scale the tall spiral stairs leading up to the Divination Classroom. Instead of climbing the magical ladder that drops down at the very top, turn around entirely to spot the second stone resting on top of a chandelier. Afterward, head back down one flight of stairs and enter the nearby wooden rafters area above Central Hall to locate the third piece resting on a structural beam to your left.
Finding the Final Items and Completing the Quest
The search continues toward the Grand Staircase region as you make your way directly to the Ravenclaw Tower area. Near the local Floo Flame, look up toward the ceiling archways to spot the fourth sparkling sphere perched cleanly on top of a pillar ledge. Safely summoning this piece allows you to continue heading further upward toward the highest tier of the Grand Staircase layout.
Your destination is the Grand Staircase section just outside the school Trophy Room, where an alcove containing two detailed suits of armor stands against the wall. Look up at the structural archway directly above the armor to grab the fifth stone, then step inside the main room to find the final piece on a high trophy shelf. With all six pieces safely secured, return directly to Zenobia near the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom to conclude the quest line and claim your new decorative wand handle.
